I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading this article. I personally don't mind a lot of the recent changes that elimate the hyphen, but I definitely think that if the meaning is ambiguous without the hyphen, then one should be used to make a distinction.
And this is just a random quote that I've always found amusing: "Is anal retentive hyphenated?"
