Wikipedia appears to have a good entry on manuscript. On that page are this beautiful image of an Armenian manuscript and a gloss of MS and MSS. I found the entry by typing abbreviation for manuscript in the Google search engine. When I typed abbreviation MS, the search results listed this page first.
